A rear and side extension. including kitchen, dining and living areas, integral garage, utility and downstairs WC transformed this semi-detached home, bringing contemporary style and space for entertaining and connection to the garden.
Before the work began - the typical story of large but cellular rooms, lack of flow and connection to the outside.
The transformation inside - the original kitchen, pantry and breakfast rooms had already been opened-up, but were tired and dated. Dropping the openings to the ground, linking the door and window, plus a wrap-around extension created a dream kitchen-diner.
Two existing chimney breasts required some thoughtful design to retain the structural support to the stack above, but created a feature frame to the full-height cupboards, including the best feature - a 10cm deep spice cupboard which maintained a symmetrical design.
Ultra-matt black "Fenix", including sinks and splashbacks contrast with textured timber and glossy, flat-fronted appliances.
What every entertaining space needs - a stunning bar!
Bottle and glass displays are lit by spot, shelf and pendant lighting, with hidden drinks fridge, freezer and recessed seating below.
A bit of brushed gold and marble adds some glam!
A little bit of decadence for the front drawing room in the original house to contrast with the modern extension.
Original plaster coving was restored, floors stripped and stained and reproduction radiators installed.
Indulgant "Swarovski" wallpaper, chandelier and oversized mirror adds to the drama.
Rufus loves this room!
The original house was let down by it's small bathroom. This was extended into the rear bedroom with a clever angled wall design creating a large walk-in shower and feature vanity area.
Transformations continued inside and outside, with new floor tiles painstakingly added to the hallway flooor and original front door and stained glass window refurbished.
Every spare space was fully utilised, with a new en-suite bathroom squeezed into an old store cupboard.
